Choosing a program for 3 children together plus LHTH

Hello! I am about to purchase Preparing Hearts to use over the Summer holidays and continuing throughout next year at a slower pace (I can“t homeschool anymore here in Spain!) so the children will go to school until 2pm and do their Preparing Hearts curriculum in the afternoon. Do you think that would work out if I did it at a gentle pace? Also, I am thinking of using Preparing Hearts with our 10 yr old and almost 9 yr old and our 7 yr old can follow along (as he is very bright). My four year old will do LHTH. Could I do these two programmes together with them all at the same time? Thank you for your feed-back. I really want to give my children a World History comprehensive curriculum that they can do together.
God bless you.

Hello Bilqis,
Welcome to the HOD board! I am currently doing Preparing with my 9 year old daughter, and to be honest, I am not sure it would suit a 7 year old. It is a very complete and full program and I think it may be asking too much to have your children do Preparing as well as their school work. If it is a World History perspective you are interested in, maybe you could just buy the History package (like Child's History of the World, Grandpa's Box etc) and use the guide to help you enjoy these wonderful books and read them aloud to your children so they can get an overview of events in history.
Blessings,
Corrie

This is a tough one. I am so sorry you are unable to homeschool.

I suppose a move is out of the question? I think your dc are going to be ready to be done with school at 2 PM after being in school all day, and it could be a battle to do all of PHFHG with them at that point. I also think PHFHG will be way too much for a 7 yo. Could you perhaps spread PHFHG out over 2 years, doing it half-speed? I think that pace would be more doable all things considered, and you could truly enjoy it more then. You probably wouldn't be doing all of it, would you? As they'll have had math, writing, reading, etc. in school already? Perhaps just doing the left side of the plans along with the science, poetry, and Bible study from the right side would work? You could also do "Drawn into the Heart of Reading" if you felt reading was lacking in school? That's just a thought though! You will certainly know best what would work for you once your dc begin going to school. I'm so sorry about this, and I hope for the best for your family!
In Christ,
Julie
