Help--Transitioning to Rev. to Rev.

Post by jcmi » Sat Jun 04, 2011 8:14 am

Wondering if anyone has any suggestions as we transition to HOD. My younger 3 will transition easily. My oldest dd will be in 7th grade in the fall and doing Revival to the Revolution.

For the past two years we've used Mystery of History, and both in content and in skill dd placed right into Rev. to Rev. However, MOH ended this year right before the Renaissance and the Reformation---two topics that were covered in the previous level of HOD.

I know that these topics are not critical to starting HOD in the fall, however, my dd loves history and was looking forward to these two topics. Can anyone recommend the best resources from HOD Resurrection to Reformation that cover these topics? I don't want to spend a ton of money (as I just bought three guides and all the extras  ) but she would love some summer reading---and since I'll do Res. to Ref. eventually with my younger three, I don't mind buying a few things.

My only problem with HOD is that I didn't find it sooner!!! I'm disappointed that ALL of my kids don't get to do ALL of the guides!! :D

So you haven't done MOH vol. 3 yet? A big portion of RTR uses MOH vol. 3. Would she have any interest in just reading through that this summer? That would probably give her a good overview of the time period. The 2 church history books are excellent (Peril and Peace, Monks and Mystics). Carrie does have you skip a few chapters in Peril and Peace due to content.
