LHFHG with my 2nd son and Bigger with my 1st son! It was a really great year and both of my sons enjoyed it. I am so excited about moving into Preparing and Beyond. This will be my 2nd time going through Beyond, and I absolutely love it! (In fact, out of LHTH, LHFHG, BLHFHG, and Bigger ... I actually think that Beyond is my favorite!) I've loved all of it, though, so I suppose it's hard to say.

Although, I haven't yet placed my Preparing order through HOD, I do have some of the books already, so I cleared out my oldest sons shelf ... and started placing his books for next school year.
Of course, having done Beyond before, I already have all of those books ... so I cleared 2nd son's shelf and placed all his new books on his shelf.

You wouldn't believe the excitement that followed!! They were busily looking through their new books and getting super excited about what they would be reading next year. My oldest son was fingering through all the books we read in Beyond and happily remembering those great books. Oh, how I love the deep appreciation that is developing for good books in my children!

On another note, as I was putting away all of the books that we read this past year in Bigger ... my oldest son said, "Awww ... we are putting away such wonderful books!" I just told him not to worry because we will be pulling them back out next year for Aaron ... and he will be able to read them all again if he wanted!

Congratulations on completing LHFHG and Bigger! I am somewhat envious of you that you get to go through Bigger again. We are all sad here putting away the books from Bigger. It was a great year. It's neat that your son was sad also and will look forward to the books coming out again. What a blessing it is to see that love of books and learning in our dc! Thanks for sharing.

How funn!!! I am sooo excited with you, and totally get the sadness of putting up the ones and enjoyment of bringing out the new!! This is fun to read, thank you for sharing!!

Hooray for finishing strong, Larissa! You can be so proud of the year with both of your dc - they learned so much and grew so much in so many skills! It IS sad to say goodbye to an HOD guide, but it IS exciting to say hello to a new HOD guide too. I think you'll enjoy Beyond and PHFHG so much! I have to say that going through an HOD guide a second time with a different child feels new. Their personalities, interests, and abilities vary so much, and because the discussions are higher level and not filled with just "one right" answers, the discussions take on a whole new direction. I am very sad to be finishing LHTH for the third time this coming year with my youngest little pumpkin... there is always the possibility of grandchildren doing HOD though, right? I'd sub for that any day, for sure. I'm celebrating your happy year with you here - thanks for letting us share in it!

Woohoo! Congrats on a great year! Your older ds's comment melted my heart. That is so the attitude we want from our kids.

We'll finish LHFHG next Friday, then we're reading some of the storytime books from Beyond over the summer. I'm going to try a mix of the classics and girls since we'll read mostly from the boys list for school.

I'm just rejoicing with you on the end to your year with LHFHG and Bigger! I'm praising the Lord for your good year. My boys don't ever want to put their books away from the past year either. That's always a great sign.
