Preparing Praise and ?

Hello all,
We have just started using Preparing this week. I have been homeschooling for 11 years but this is our first time using HOD. I am really really enjoying it so far. I have used so many different literature based curriculums but have never felt like they had everything I was looking for. Some had great book but others had good activities. Some were well organized but others were a mess. I can already see the thought that went into the instructor guide. The attention to detail has really impressed me.
My question is about A Child's History of the World. I do not have the same version that is scheduled in the Preparing guide. There seems to be some activities based on maps that are in the book. My book has the same chapters as the one in Preparing but I don't have the maps. Should I just "wing it" with the maps and just read my version or do I really need that particular version?
Thanks so much!
God Bless,
