My DD knows how to form her letters. She really needs practice though on placement in the lines and making them the appropriate size. I have already seen improvement since we have put up our whiteboard and she draws/writes frequently. I was planning on ordering Handwriting A, not K. For those that have done these books is this a good place to start her?

Sorry, I'm no help with ARFH. We use HWT. I think if you looked at samples and feel she places in A it should be fine. With my youngest i found once he could form the letters it was just having repeated, gentle practice that helped.

I would probably lean towards Handwriting K but let me describe the difference and you can decide:
ARFH K: The front of the page is one letter in upper and lower case, on the back is a picture to color that starts with that letter. So Kk on the front, then Kangaroo on the back (and she would trace over the word Kangaroo).
ARFH A: The front has 4 words that would be practiced 4 to 6 times each. The back has 2 more words that need to be practiced 4 to 6 times each. Then it also has a Bible verse that needs to be done like copywork. (The words practiced on both sides of that page are in the Bible verse copywork.)

If she isn't sure about where her letters go for a lot of her letters (vs. just a few) then the repetition and focus on one letter might be best. If she only struggles with a few letters, then A might be appropriate with some helpful hints from Mom.

This year I used ARFH K and my ds is able to write most of his letters properly. He does not always place them properly on the lines and his sizing tends to be a bit erratic at times. He does a great job with short sentences for copywork, so I am moving him on to the A book. To me it sounds as if your dd has already accomplished what we learned in the K book, mostly proper letter formation, so I would lean toward getting her the A book.
As most kiddo's mature and improve in their fine motor skills they begin to make their letters the same size. In many instances girls tend to accomplish this sooner than boys. (Just making sure to say there are always exceptions on either side)

These are such good responses already! If she can write her letters, and is ready for words, and eventually sentences, then ARFH A is the way to go. If she is still needing help forming each letter, than ARFH K would be better. My ds struggled with writing on lines too, and I used a few "tricks" that helped him that I posted about here... just in case it may be in any way helpful...

well the good news is our OT [occupational therapist] says she has excellent fine motor skills. I think ALOT of it is her taking her time. I am going to go with A and see how it goes.
