Did you just go at half speed then? Going half speed means that Math and Reading aren't done everyday? Or am I misunderstanding?

Yes, we started out half-speed in the fall b/c he was just 5.5 and I didn't want to overwhelm him AND we had a new baby in our family! We did Phonics, Math, Fine Motor Skills, and Rhymes every day. The other boxes we did half of the spread for that day on one day and the other half the next day. So, History, and Rotating Box with all the every day items the first day and then Bible, Music, and Storytime with all the every day items the next day. We sped up to full-speed in January b/c he was begging for it!!! :D I think we are going to finish LHFHG around Feb. next year, however, so then we will just have to start Beyond then. I'm okay with that, though. I have actually found it to be a smoother start to the year in our family when we start the year with something they are already familiar with! :D This is just what has worked for us -- I'm sure some other ladies will chime in other ideas of how to go about half-speed! :)

Well not exactly. We did our own program for reading and math and we did that everyday. In LHFHG we just worked our way through to unit 20 for k. I also added in my fathers world k science units because I already owned that and I love the science units. We basically finished the Bible history part of the program and we are going to pick it up again in the fall in unit 21 for 1st grade. Then we should finish LHFHG around December. I have already brought the Beyond materials to start up after that. We will take Beyond slowly for the last half of 1st grade and stretch it out for the rest _of 2nd grade. That's my plan anyway! We will see how it goes!

Oh my, what a cutie you have there! :D She looks so precious with all of those great books laid out in front of her. :) I look at all of those books and praise the Lord we are able to homeschool our dc in this manner. What a wonderful year we can have with our dc with Christ at the center in HOD! If you are thinking of trying half-speed with your little gal, here's a great thread about that too...
