I can't seem to find anything in the threads about the Science books part of Preparing. I'm just wondering what kind of things that they children get to do. Science is my son's FAVORITE subject. He LOVES doing hands-on and experiments. When he goes to the library, he always comes home with 4 or 5 experiment books.
Does anyone have pictures of Science projects in Preparing? and can you give me an idea of what to expect?
My son will be 12 in November and will be in the 6th grade.
Thanks,
Jamie

You can see a list of the science books used in Preparing with descriptions here:

If I'm remembering correctly, in Preparing they have a reading assignment each day and then an activity assigned as well. One day is oral narration, one day is notebooking, one day is answering a few written questions, and one day is an experiment.
HTH!

What mamas4bugs said is accurate.
Science is still my dd's favorite part of the week. They do Science Exploration, as it is called, each day. There are also science type things tied into History Projects as well- making pyramids, building triremes, making a scytale message... are a few that come to mind. I have a few pictures of some experiments my dd has done on my blog in PHFHG. I am not always good about remembering to pull out the camera in time to catch the moment though, so it does not show you everything that would be done in the weeks that I have chronicled. I think your science loving son should enjoy using Preparing.

My ds LOVED the science! Here is a link to the description of each day's activities from PHFHG's Introduction:
Each unit includes the following science activities in coordination with the
read-aloud assignments:
*Day 1: create a science notebook entry
*Day 2: practice oral narration by retelling the science story
*Day 3: write answers to five provided questions (including one Biblical application question) based on the science reading
*Day 4: conduct an experiment related to the reading and log it in a science notebook or on a copy of the “Science Lab” form found in the Appendix
We found the balance of this rotation of activities to be just right for our ds.

Also, I thought you may have fun checking out the pictures of science activities from the PHFHG Photobook at this link:

PHFHG will surely satisfy your little scientist's needs! HTH!
