Science in future guides

Post by lovetobehome » Sun May 22, 2011 5:26 am

Does anyone know if Carrie has discussed specifics about science in future guides? I read the sticky thread about why she has chosen the sciences she has chosen. This coming year, I was planning to use RtoR with my 6th grader, as written. But our co-op is teaching Apol Gen Sci, and his 2 best friends will be using it, too. Considering having him do that, but not sure...I also sort of just want to do things as written.

Edited- just saw this helpful thread. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7880

Oh, decisions!

lovetobehome,

I'm so glad that you found the link you posted! :D I think I will add it to the "Reasons Behind HOD Choices" in the hopes that it will be helpful as families ponder middle school science options. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Thanks, Carrie! Think I have decided to trust the HOD method and forgo the Gen Science and co-op. These little doubts sometimes creep in and I have to keep reigning in my thoughts, and turning it over to the Lord...
it was such a joy and gift to meet you and Julie at CHAP...THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!

It is a tough choice to know what to do for each subject area, isn't it! I can understand your struggle. It was such a blessing to meet you at CHAP too, I love to put your face with your name! :D

I have to say that I have been so blessed by the CM method of living books for science and have seen such strong scientific thinking in my sons. They test so well in science too, which to me matters very little, but does show that even when compared to other kiddos who are doing science in a more traditional sense, my boys are excelling. :D We pray you will enjoy the science the CM/HOD way too, should you decide to go that route. :D I do think it will keep your day more in balance too. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
