Prayers needed
It seems my 13 year old has been deceiving me. Although our days have been a little slow, she has been generally cooperative. She has even said she liked the curriculum. But today she was complaining about her math book, which she said was too simple (mind you, she is nearly finished with it, and it is not too simple at all). I stated to her that as soon as she is done with it, the next book will surely be more challenging. Then she said, "This would be going into next year, right? So there's no hope (to return to public school)" Then she stormed away and wrote me a note saying, "I'm never doing any of this sorry excuse for a math book ever again and I'm done with homeschool. Have fun with Tamara because tomorrow I'm not going to work."
I know it has nothing to do with the math. She has been "making nice" to me in secret hopes of returning to public school for 8th grade. This really breaks my heart. I feel the truth is she has never yet come to terms with my divorce and remarriage, even though the rest of the children truly have. I suppose we need counseling again. I know in my heart that returning to an environment of children with foul mouths and disrespectful attitudes is not where she needs to be for healing to take place. Please pray for us.

Re: Prayers needed-Thank you
I want to thank you all for your prayers. So, first, I prayed. Then I grounded her (no computer, no cell phone, no going outside, no tv). Then I left her alone and prayed some more. I wrote her a heartfelt note. Then she came to me in tears and apologized, asking forgiveness (which I gave, but she is still grounded). We had a looooong talk and lots of hugs. It was very good. By the end of the afternoon we were sitting on the sofa chatting like mom and daughter again. Prayer works! But I know I will just have to keep in prayer for her and keep taking it one step at a time. I reinforced the reasons why I am homeschooling her.
Here is one academic point that came up. She feels CTC is below her. I agree. The reason she placed there was because since the beginning of the year she has not been giving her all, so it was hard to pinpoint her placement. She confessed to being slow with her reading because of a poor attitude, not because it was difficult. From that confession and some of her recent writing that she has done on her own, as well as breezing through dictation level 5, I believe she actually would do well in Rev to Rev. She has no problem completing work in Rod and Staff 6, and the WWTB ia a breeze-no challenge at all. The science is way too easy. She will be in algebra 1 by September.
So for now I will continue what we have, and pray for provision so Keri can begin Rev to Rev by the fall.
All in all, I am glad for the start she had. Starting her in CTC allowed heart issues to surface so that God can work in us, and as I reminded her, that is the most important thing.

Re: Prayers needed
Now that's real progress - progress at both the mind and the heart level.
