Question about LHFHG

Post by Dustybug » Mon Apr 25, 2011 1:13 pm

I plan on starting LHFHG with my DD sometime late summer or fall. She is 5 and will be 6 in Feb. We've already done some phonics work and are currently doing Abeka K5 phonics as a supplement during her second time through LHTH. While I plan on continuing phonics work with her with Abeka's 1st grade phonics and reading program when we start LHFHG, I think that she would like to go ahead and do the emerging readers set that goes with Beyond. My question is, how should I schedule the readers for her with LHFHG? Do I need to purchase the Beyond guide to know the schedule?

We did Beyond's ERS while doing LHFHG. We just got the Beyond guide when my ds was ready to begin the ERS, and we did 1 day of plans each day until we completed it. Usually dc just read 1 of the 2 Bibles, but we got both so we could extend the set a little longer, as my ds was beginning it a little early. So, that's an option too. We enjoyed those books so much - they are a great bunch of books! Full of adventure, laughter, historical fiction... so many different genres, that are so fun to read! The questions in the back of the Beyond guide really helped build my dc's reading comprehension skills. They were so good to have! I hope that helps! Have fun with LHFHG and the ERS - I'm glad your dd will get to do them. :D
