It definitely teaches World history thru the lens of and including Bible History. The first history spine is heavy on Bible history, but always showing how it links to world history. For example my ds now really understands why Jonah was afraid to go to Ninevah because he studied the Assyrians and saw what fierce warriors they were and how cruel they could be. The other two spines focus on Greece and Rome. Also when you are looking at the History also look at the Storytime History selection. That gives a more complete picture of the history. The other book that really complements the history is Child's Geography of the Holy lands. It gives a great historical summary of those countries and then a picture of the country today.

I agree with LynnH. When we did CTC, it really gave my ds an overall balanced understanding of what was going on during that time period, by meshing Biblical and world history together. It was exciting to hash out that timeline and get a real grip on that time period in a way that was very memorable. We loved our trip through the ancients with CTC as our tour guide. I can't wait to do it again with my middle child!
