Notebooking in LHFHG...
I was just wondering if anyone can tell me if there is notebooking in LHFHG. I am going to have to order by books soon. It's driving me crazy that I can't look at them to see for myself!!
I want to try and get some things that I need. There was someone who was telling about Miller papers or something like that, where you can get neat spiral notebooks to do your notebooking.?
Love my husband of 18 years this year;
Love my 3 teenagers--13, 15, and 16. They keep me young, but hanging on for dear life!
Used HOD in the earliest years with all three of them!

I am pretty sure the notebooking starts in Bigger...there was none in Beyond when we did it. We just started LHFHG, but I have not come across any notebooking. Bigger...has notebooking for history and science, 1 or 2 times per week, I think.
Mary is the one who talked about the Miller papers. Maybe she'll come on and post the link to that particulat topic on her blog, or to the post here about it.

Hi LeAnna,
I love the idea of notebooking as well. My daughter has just recently showed in interest in "recording" what she has observed. To encourage this and to have a wonderful representation of her 4 year old perspective, I have been taking her on nature walks. We live steps away from natural hiking trails and often go for short nature walks. Just the other day we took a walk and pointed out everything that we heard and saw, right down to the "road apples" that a horse casually left behind!
When we returned home, my daughter was so excited to draw pictures of everything she had observed. She drew a rattlesnake (we had talked about them only, didn't run into one!), rocks, trees, flowers, birds, the sun, clouds, and yes, the "road apples" as well!
I found this related thread that looked interesting:

If I find more I will post, hope this helps.
Here is a really good one, thanks to Mary!

We are doing Little Hearts for K and have added notebooking. My dd loves animals so we check out books about animals from the library and I read them to her. I find a coloring page for her online and then she narrates to me what she has learned. I type up her narration and we put it all in her science notebook. It is working very well for us and she is so proud of her notebook. HTH!
