Character Development is #1

Here's a wonderful excerpt from "The How and Why of Home Schooling" by Ray Ballmann. It reminded me of one of the main reasons we chosen HOD as our curriculum!
"Development of character is critical to the proper growth and maturation of a young child. Home educators are returning to the crucial responsibility of developing and nurturing character. The most important task of the educator is to prepare students for life. And the best way to prepare a student for life is to teach, model, and promote the development of godly character. Character development is the most important and most laudable activity for a student and teacher to be engaged in. If a student is taught nothing else save character alone, he will still be better prepared for life than an academic egghead without character."
I love how all the stories and everything in HOD are so tied to our children's character development! It is awesome.
Blessings!
