Creative Writing in Bigger

I had no idea when we started Bigger that we would be doing any creative writing, but along the way through Cheerful Cursive, R&S grammar, and other assignments throughout the guide, we have done quite a few little writing projects. It's been a great way to get my dc's feet wet with a paragraph here and there. I love it! I know the comment was made recently about how nice it is that so many of our language arts are woven throughout the program in HOD, and I agree! It's wonderful that we don't have to have a "creative writing" class to include writing in the program. It's just an everyday extension of all of the wonderful activities that we are doing. I'm so thrilled with this because on my own I would have had to schedule a writing program to get these skills in and that would have taken a lot more time and effort. I thought I would share a couple of the small things that my dc have written lately that really blessed me. This first one is from a writing assignment in Cheerful Cursive that asked them to tell about their favorite present:
My favorite present is God's love for me. I love all my Christmas presents so much that I cannot choose my favorite, but my most favorite of all is God's love for me.
This next one is from my son and was an assignment in R&S3:
I was sorry when Aunt Georgie died. She was 90 years old when she died.
She was a nice woman who played the banjo. She believed in God and I will see her when I die.
This last one is really special to me. It's a poem my dd wrote for Cheerful Cursive. It didn't say that it had to be poem, but she chose to write a poem. That is so exciting to me because on my own I never would have gotten poetry study covered. I was so surprised at how much she has learned about poetry and was able to put it into practice in this poem.
I love Mommy and Daddy with all my heart,
And with them I never wish to part,
Because I love them so,
Running I will not go,
Perfect here, perfect over there,
'Cause I love them, everywhere.
I just thought I would share since I'm thrilled with the progress that my dc have made in this area, and it was such a surprise to me as I didn't even think that we would be doing things like this until later years.
