Rod and Staff A-B-C workbooks with Little Hands

Post by Motherjoy » Sun Apr 06, 2008 7:17 pm

I'm using Little Hands next year with my 2yo and 4yo. I noticed that Little Hearts uses the Rod and Staff D and F workbooks (Do It Carefully and Find the Answers).

Has anyone used the ABC books (Adventures with Books, Bible Pictures to Color, and Couting with Numbers) with Little Hands? Are they just repeat of the subject matter, or would they be good 'extras' for my 4yo?

I used the whole set for my now 9 yr old as his preschool/kindergarten curriculum. It was really nice; I liked the whole set. If your child is a workbook/color book kind of kid, then I would say they are an excellent resource. I wouldn't buy them for the express purpose of extra work, though.
If you buy the whole set, I would say also get the story book that goes with the Bible color book. My boys really enjoyed listening to the stories; much more so then coloring. :)

Motherjoy,

We have all of the R&S ABC Series workbooks that you mentioned as well as the Bible Stories To Read and the coloring book that goes with it.
I really adore all of these workbooks and plan to work through them at my daughter's pace, no schedule. I have set aside Do It Carefully and Finding The Answers to use when we begin LHFHG. They are wonderful, gentle, quality workbooks that introduce the child to coloring, cutting, pasting, number and letter recognition, colors, shapes, beginning handwriting and thinking skills. These workbooks really pack a punch for such an inexpensive price tag. My daughter enjoys doing them and I highly recommend them.

I really like The Bible Stories To Read and the coloring book that goes along with it. It is quite thorough and my daughter loves the coloring portion! I do however, feel that LHTH really covers the bible portion so wonderfully that the R&S bible stories might be a little bit redundant. However, in an effort to enjoy both the Little Hands bible readings as well as the R&S bible readings (and coloring), I keep the R&S "on the go". That means that it comes with us in the car, to appointments, or in the motorhome when we are camping. it has turned out to be a wonderful supplement. And LHTH stays home as it is our main focus for bible time.

Hope this helps a bit.

Candice :D

I have to agree with everything said about these wbs. They are great! I also wanted to add they really don't repeat themselves. If you go to:
http://www.rodandstaffbooks.com/item/10 ... _Preschool
You will see discriptions and samples of each book. I know Hannah will love these when she gets to them. Also if you go here:
http://www.rodandstaffbooks.com/list/Ro ... dergarten/
you will see that they also have a set of book that are good for children aout 3 to 4 years old that may work for your younger child. I litterally have to hid them from Hannah cuz she likes them so much!
