My son and I just recently started reading this book together for Preparing. My son is so excited to read a book in which the main boy character is someone who loves military history, plays with miniature war figures and doesn't admire superheroes!! He can completely relate to this and I think it has greatly encouraged him. We are enjoying this book so much. Thank you HOD and Carrie, once again, for such a great curriculum.

So glad you and your son are enjoying it so much too. My son is also surprised by the fact that he likes the Draw and Write through history book.. he told me a couple of days ago "look, mom, I can draw!"

I forgot to mention the Draw and Write through History book too! He loved to draw before HOD so he's really loving learning how to draw specific things. Draw and Write has sparked his creativity again. He loves all the books honestly LOL  I can't wait to see how much he grows as we go through Preparing. I love the changes we are already seeing.

I pray you see the same growth!

My ds read that last year for Preparing and he still talks about that book. He has told me I can never sell that book. He wants it for his kids some day.

Grandpa's Box has been one of my boys' favorite this year as we have worked through Preparing. Usually it is mom who cries during the book, but the other day all three of us were crying. It has made a tremendous impact on my sons about God's love and plan for our salvation!!!

Always a good book with HOD!!!

Grandpa's Box was definitely a favorite in our house. It was a sad day when we realized that we had just read the last page and were done with it for school for the year. My dd was sad for only about five minutes though before she just picked it up and started it over on her own. LOL.

We loved "Grandpa's Box"! There is something about a Grandpa sharing Biblical stories that show his deep faith in the Lord - truly inspiring. A hero for my ds was born when we read "Grandpa's Box". I can't wait to read it again with my next ds. :D

In Christ,
Julie

Kristen,

I am so glad that you are enjoying this with your son! :D It was an all-time favorite here too, and it had such amazing insights into God's word and His marvelous plan for our salvation. :D I truly believe the Lord brought that book to our attention and helped us weave it within the one year flow of history.

When I first read Grandpa's Box, I knew we had to schedule it in our guide. We had our history spines pretty much in place, so first I placed Grandpa's Box in the Extension Pack, then I moved it to the Storytime instead, and last I figured out how to schedule in the main history box and redid our schedule, as I didn't want anyone to miss it! :D Once we got our books in place the writing just began to flow. This happens so often as the Lord brings books to our attention and helps us weave them together for His glory! :D

Thanks for sharing! :D

Blessings,
Carrie
