I just wanted to stop by and say hi, and get some feedback. I became very interested in HOD just a couple of weeks ago. I love what I have seen on the HOD website, what I've read here on the Board, etc. Let me give you some background on our family.
We are a military family, so we do move often. I've homeschooled since 2009. In 2009 Ethan (he was 6.5 at the time) did My Father's World First Grade, and my youngest Evan (3.5 at the time) participated alongside. Tragically, just 9 months ago Ethan passed away in an accident.

We also moved just 6 weeks after Ethan passed to a new duty station. Now we are moving yet again...but this is a positive move. We are moving back home! Praise the Lord!
In August of last year I had good intentions to get started with Evan on Kindergarten (Evan turned 5 in October). Due to extreme grief, I just simply never got into a good routine with Evan concerning school. We started schooling a couple of months ago. He isn't reading yet, but seems to want to read (some days). Evan is a wiggly worm.

The other curriculum I am considering (not sure if it's okay to post the name, so I will refrain) is a unit study that's been around for years. It's very hands-on, but also requires a ton of preparation. I've always like this particular curriculum because of the hands-on aspect, and character building units. I'm just not sure that I'm up for moving again PLUS planning for an entire school year. I would have a ton of planning with said curriculum.
I have always leaned towards the Charlotte Mason type of education. We are very outdoorsy and love nature as family!
Okay, so now that I have written a novel, can I get some feedback please? Do any of you seasoned HOD users think that LHFHG would be a good fit for my son and I?
PS.: I am going to pray on this too! Hubby supports me in just about all of my curriculum choices, so this isn't an issue.
Thank you all and God Bless,
Shannon W.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 (Ethan's favorite Bible verse)
