Is there something coming after Resurrection to Reformation? Will there be a High School level? I will have an 8th grader next year, and am considering using Resurrection to Reformation, but don't want to switch all our curriculum if there will be nothing for him the following year.
Also, I'm wondering about Mystery of History. We just started using TruthQuest History, and LOVE it. How is MoH used in HOD? Is it like the main history text? Do the Lesson plans for HOD just use parts? Would it be too difficult to NOT use MoH, and instead fill in with TruthQuest instead?
Or, is it feasable to purchase the Teacher's Guide and just pick and choose from the resource lists?
I am fairly confident that I am purchasing Little Hearts for His Glory for my Kindergartner this fall. I could go ahead and purchase it and see if I like it before deciding on Resurrection to Reformation for my older two...who will be 5th grade and 8th grade this fall. This will be my 6th year homeschooling, and this past year I thought I'd pieced together the perfect curriculum, and we have thoroughly enjoyed it. But because I'll be adding in a third student, I'm concerned I'm making it too hard on myself. I do kind of like to write my own curriculum and make it somewhat my own, but HOD does have choices, and every review I've read has been spectacular. I will be praying about the decision, and trying to seek out as much information as I possibly can before deciding. I, as well as most every homeschool parent, just want what's best for my children. I want to choose the things that will train my children in the ways of the Lord, first and foremost, which is more important to me than the academics. I love the Charlotte Mason method, and have tried to completely switch to curriculums I feel have her ideas behind them. (Another reason I like what I see in HOD.) If someone could give me more information about how Mystery of History is used, and answer some of my earlier listed concerns, I'd appreciate it! Thanks so much!

Re: Questions about Resurrection to Reformation
I haven't used Resurrection to Reformation (RTR) yet, but from what I've seen and read just the reader from MOH3 is used in RTR. I don't know if all of it is read in the course of the year or not. Hopefully someone will be able to pop in here and share about that. It is one of several history resources used. I can tell you the history cores are pretty integral to the program and I don't think you would want to substitute those. Anything that is the basic/economy package would be pretty essential to the program. That's not to say that you couldn't substitute, but it would greatly affect the flow of the program. Things like language art choices, math, and even science, are easier to substitute.
To answer your other questions, yes there are more guides coming out. The newest guide Revival to Revolution (Rev2Rev) is just being released this year: http://www.heartofdakota.com/revival-to-revolution.php All of the resources for it except the teacher's guide and student pages are available now and the teacher's guide and student pages will be available early August. Carrie plans on continuing to release a guide each year for the next 5 years which includes programs for high school. Check out the scope and sequence chart here: http://www.heartofdakota.com/scope.php We're all pretty excited about it around here as she just announced her high school plans this past week!
A good place to start too when looking at the programs, if you haven't had a chance to do so yet, is the program placement chart: http://www.heartofdakota.com/placing-your-child.php This can help you figure out where your dc place best in the HOD guides.
Welcome to HOD! Feel free to ask any questions you have here. The ladies are wonderful at helping. You've come to the right place for a God centered CM curriculum!

Re: Questions about Resurrection to Reformation
Hi and welcome to the boards!!!
We're using CTC (Creation to Christ) this year with our 8th grader, and I'm getting ready to order RTR (Resurrection to Reformation) for her 9th grade year (using the extension pack for ages 13-14). HOD just came out with the new guide for after RTR, called "Revival to Revolution". (You can see it on their Scope and Sequence page and read more about it.)
They also announced this week that they are planning to write High School guides as well (which you can see on the main site, too!!)
PLUS, they are coming out with 2 more guides after Revival to Rev.--also with extension packages to use to "beef up" the guides for high school. Several of us on the boards are planning just that! (Carrie, the author, also has a sticky note at the top of the message boards on suggestions to beef up the guides for high school as well.) SO, you can see there is definitely a long-term plan in place to be able to use HOD all the way through our homeschool journeys through high school!!
Since we haven't used RTR yet, I can't tell you how the MOH is used, but I'm sure others on here will be able to jump in and help with that part of your questions.
