For those of you who have read The Golden Bull, Boy of the Pyramids, and Jashub's Journal, tell me how much you (and your children) enjoyed these books!! They seem like great read aloud choices. Tell me why you enjoyed them!!

Thanks!! :)

We read all 3 and enjoyed all 3. I think the best thing about them is they bring the time period to life. They made it "real" for my son. He understood how the kids of that day lived and how the challenges they faced were in some ways different than his and in some ways the same. Yes there is talk of the other gods that they worshipped, but on Day 4 when we both find verses in Proverbs that pertain to what we read he did a great job of finding things that applied to the idea of only worshiping the one true God and how this was wise etc. I loved the discussions we had on those days. I think his favorite of the 3 was Boy of the Pyramids. He still talks about that book. He never wanted me to stop reading. He was never really interested in Egypt before, but this sparked an interest.

Yep - loved them here, too! :D Like Lynn said, they really make the time period come to life. Real people lived then. Real kids. My son LOVES HOD's storytime choices, and I have to admit that I have loved the history storytime books this year as much as he has. Boy of the Pyramids was our favorite of those 3, but God King was our all-time favorite so far this year (with 2 still to finish).

Wyatt loved these books! :D Jashub's Journal really appealed to his sense of justice, of what is right and what is wrong, and I liked how the book showed seeking wise Christian counsel to decide. The Golden Bull really brought the struggle of the times to life, and we were straining right along with Zefa and Jomar in a difficult world where God's strength and grace was (and still is  ) a lifeline. Boy of the Pyramids was filled with adventure and mystery, and the exciting finale was wonderful. Three great reads - you have much to look forward to with these read alouds! :D :D :D

In Christ,
Julie

Thanks for the feedback, ladies!

I'm really going to look forward to reading these here at our house.

What our children read is so important, and I love how I can trust each book choice that Carrie has made. :)
