I have another question. Kind of a what would you do type thing. As I was packing, I realized that I will have to pack a suit case just for homeschool books. Would you just have your dc do an online school like time4learning.com during an evacuation type situation, or would you bring all your school books? I would mail them, but we are restricted to only mailing things that weigh less than 16oz.

I would take them if at all possible. I think trying to be consistent with everyday things like school is important with dc during a time of crisis. It makes their life feel more predictable. Having the books and work that she is used to should provide some normalcy for her. How long will the evacuation be? I suppose if it was only a couple of days, I might not bother, but any longer than that I would really try to take my books with me.

I'd take them if you can. Are you allowed a backpack? Perhaps each student could take their own??

THere are too many books for the kids to carry them in back packs. I need to bring the entire cirriculum because We don't know for sure how long we'll be in the states. We are volunarily evacuating Japan. We don't have to leave, but because my baby's medical problems, we are choosing to leave.

If you can take then I would, esp since things are up in the air about getting back there. If you can't, then you can't. I'll be praying!
