Having a great time with LHFHG-encouragemtent for newbies!

I began Little Hearts with my 5year old son about one week ago. I was watchful of him as we began, and ready to put the program aside for awhile and wait until he's older if needed. I haven't had to do that at all! It has been a great experience!

I was so worried about it being too much given his age and that this is the first formal instruction I have given him (writing numbers, letters, etc.). Everything I have done with him up to this point has just been for fun, but fun is the greatest teacher in the preschool years (that is my philosophy, anyway!) :) All of that having been said, I smile when I hear myself call Little Hearts "formal" instruction! The child is definitely learning a lot, but it is just so natural! It is learning that is fun and not "forced". What is so exciting is that he is pairing up the term "school" with his experience in Little Hearts and he is just all smiles at that word......SCHOOL. :)

So, for those of you who are reluctant to start "school" like I was, give it a try if the child is old enough! I am so so glad that I did!! Little Hearts is just enough without being too much!

Also, I have been so busy lately that I haven't had time to get on the board and join in all of the rejoicing about the new guide, and that fact that Carrie is going to write for high school!!! HOORAY!!!!!

Have a great rest of the week!

So glad to hear how well it's going for your son. One of the most important things at this age is instilling a love of learning, and it sounds like your son surely has that! Good job, Mom! :D

We'll be starting LHFHG in the fall as well. Our little one will turn five in June and start in Aug. with Little Hearts. It's so good to hear how well it's working for others! Blessings on the rest of your program! :D

Plan to start LHFHG in the fall with my daughter. Thanks for the encouragement! She has really liked LHTH this year. Just so natural for her, and she has learned so much through it. Blessings!

Thank you for posting this as it is very encouraging to me as I consider using LHFHG in the Fall, if not perhaps sooner!

This is so true! :D We loved Little Hearts for our "formal" school start too  - you are so right, it doesn't feel formal but does cover all of the bases so well that it technically would be formal. Having our dc associate "school" with "fun" right from the start is surely a blessing that we enjoy the results of for years to come. I'm so glad your ds is doing well with LHFHG! Thanks for sharing!

In Christ,
Julie
