Purchasing HOD at the conference

Post by Daph » Tue Mar 15, 2011 7:40 pm

Do you take everything home from the conference or does it get shipped to your home? I wasn't sure how this worked.

Daph,
The answer is BOTH!!! If they have everything on hand, you'll take it home with you, but if not, they will ship it to you for FREE and it comes fast too!!! :D

Awesome! Thank you. :D I like to wait to purchase it all at my state's conference, so I can look at everything all at once. :) The group I go with does Show and Tell every evening, too. :D

I was just wondering Daph, which conference you go to? I noticed before that you are in NC, like me. I was hoping to go to the conference in SC, but I don't think that is going to work out this year. I'll probably go to the NCHE conference, but HOD won't be there this year. :( Maybe I'll make it to HEAV too and see them in VA. :D

The only "sale" they do is the discounts you get if you purchase the books in packages. Each package tells you what the discount is. I know that HOD's guides are so much less expensive than other curriculum companies techer manuals - and they're just LOADED with great stuff that makes each of our days so much easier.

If you purchase at the conferences, you do take everything possible with you or get free shipping. (And if I was with a group doing "show and tell", I would definitely go for that. :D How fun Daph!) But if you purchase at a conference, you will pay sales tax. I know for me this usually ended up about the same.

Happy Shopping!

I do go the NCHE conference! :D I considered going to the SC conference too, but it came down to cost with getting a room and paying for the kiddos to go to classes. So HOD isn't going to have a booth at the conference?

No they won't make it here this year. :( Those gals in Florida have been waiting for a long time to have them come down there. So it's their turn. We'll miss Julie and Carrie in NC this year! I considered trying to do a one day trip to SC, but it would be 6 or 7 hours on the road for me. If they had just a book fair option, I might have given it a try. It was going to be difficult to arrange it anyway and with gas prices as high as they are, it just makes a lot more sense to stay home.

Oh, ok. I saw the schedule, but just assumed that it was only for Julie and Carrie, but there would still be a booth manned by someone else at the nche conference. LOL So, I need to order everything online then. That's very good to know ahead of time! Thanks!

I know what you mean about the gas prices! It's crazy. I have a little Toyota Corolla and it's over $30 to fill the thing up. I dread going to the gas station. I hope to run into you at nche!! Of course, I wouldn't know you if I saw you. lol

It is between $50 and $60 to fill up my car these days and my dh filled up the truck today and it was $95! It's not fun at the gas station these days. :x Hopefully as the NCHE conference gets closer, we can schedule a HODie meet and greet. There is a Starbucks across the street from the convention center so maybe all of us NC HODies can get some coffee and say hi. That would be nice. :D

Oh, I would love that! I always stop there at some point, just to get away from the hustle and bustle inside the building. LOL

And sheesh at the gas prices! Sounds about what my dh pays to fill his Jeep. It's just crazy. It's eatin' into my curriculum funds! LOL
