What to order?

I am very interested in switching over to Heart of Dakota from Sonlight for our next school year. I will have a 1st grader and two 4th graders next school year. I am guessing that they are too far apart to keep together?! I just am not sure what to order. I can't decide between Little Hearts or Beyond Little Hearts for my youngest. We will be sticking with Saxon Math. I don't want the grammar/language arts part of Little to be too easy, but I don't know if that aspect will be too difficult for him in Beyond. I do like that for storytime (read aloud), they could all listen to the same biography, etc. That would save a lot of time!

I have pretty much decided that the bigger boys will be using Bigger Hearts. They are finishing up Core 3 in Sonlight so they have done the first half of American History. I don't want to move on without covering the second half, so it looks like they will redo the first half of American History. It looks like different books so hopefully it won't seem redundant to them! My question for them is about the expansion packet. Do they need it? Is it just extra books for them to read independently?

Any advice is much appreciated!!!!!

Hi there, and welcome to the HOD Board! :D HOD is such a wonderful way to homeschool - I think you are going to love it. The very best place to begin with HOD is the placement chart. It is short, accurate, and easy to use. I have used it to place my 3 sons with great results. :D It is best not to get hung up on history when looking at the placement chart - rather the first page of it is most important. If you get a chance to share where each of your dc place with the first page of the chart in mind - we will all chime in with ideas on placement! I'm looking forward to getting to know you here - this is such an amazing board full of Christian ladies that just give good solid advice and celebrate homeschooling with one another - I think you'll fit right in! :D
