It's me again..starting another thread :D
I'm wondering about our transition to R&S from Easy Grammar. We are using EG 3 and 4 now. I've been reading how advanced R&S is and I wonder if it will be a shock once we start. I've thought about getting R&S 4 now and see how it works. If it's too easy for ds10 then ds9 can use it. Then I would get R&S 5 and stretch that our for 2yrs...then R&S 6 for 2 yrs. :?:

Although I like Easy Grammar, Rod and Staff is more difficult. I think a jump from EG 3 to Rod and Staff 5 would be difficult. You could possibly do it from EG 4 to Rod and Staff 5. Are you wanting to put them in the same R & S book? If so, I would really lean toward 4. Are you going to try to do all of level 5 or split it over two years? That would make a difference too. Level 5 really picks it up a notch. Have you looked at samples online? There are a lot and you could get a better idea of placement.

Another thing to think about is whether your children have done any diagramming yet. If they have not R&S 3 has a great introduction to diagramming. I'm not saying 4 wouldn't work for you if they haven't done any diagramming but it's something to consider for placement.

I know this because I bought R&S for my son this weekend and this was something that Carrie and Julie asked me in regards to my sons grammar background.

Hope this helps!
