What has Pagoo done to my dc?

This was our second week reading
Pagoo. Earlier this week, I was wishing I had made a different choice. I don't know, it seemed like I was having a hard time understanding it. I guess it seems kind of technical.

Anyway, I kept asking my dc if they were following etc. and they would always answer in the affirmative. Now they are just going nuts over everything to do with the ocean. Yesterday, we spent atleast an hour online looking at photos of different sea creatures we've read about in Pagoo. Ds said someting about looking up the purple starfish and I told him, "There's probably no such thing." Well, I was wrong.

We even found
a beautiful photo of one. Today I've spent a ton more time online printing coloring pages of all these wonderful creatures because they want to color them, and are making them into their own books about the animals. Then dd has this sticker book that has thousands of animal stickers and they've been relooking through that and excitedly bringing it and saying, "Oh, Momma, here's a mollusks." Then they'll find something else they've read about and show it to me. Oh, and we had to save the things to show to daddy later too, especially the purple starfish. To be honest, I don't know that I'm that much more in love with the book now (please don't hate me), but I do love that my dc are loving it and learning so much.

Boy are they going to love reading
One Small Square:Seashore next year in Bigger.
Oh, and dd just finished reading CLP's nature reader, so we've looked up all kinds of things from that too yesterday like aphids, lacewings, mayflys, etc... Love it!!!

Love that enthusiasm!
I'm with you... I wasn't totally into it but my DD really loved it! Almost as much as the John Audubon book in BHFHG

My oldest two are 7 and 5 and we've been reading Pagoo. They are enthralled! The Holling books are fabulous about engaging children. We went out and bought two hermit crabs, Sam and Charlie, and a crabitat and the whole deal for Valentine's Day. The girls journal about them, draw pictures, stare at them for ages, help with cleaning and feeding and watering them, etc. They are really interesting little creatures.
We only read a chapter a week and really dig deeply into it. Fascinating material written so well! Enjoy!

I didn't think we'd love
Pagoo, either, but it turned out to be a favorite around here, too!

I thought the same thing the first time I read "Pagoo" to my ds - kind of technical, not sure he was getting it - but then just like you, my ds began to LOVE it! He too became interested in so much because of reading "Pagoo". I'm so glad your dc are enjoying their journey right along with Pagoo's!
In Christ,
Julie

How exciting! We have Pagoo planned for later this year...I'm really excited about it (we loved Paddle to the Sea a couple years ago). We also have hermit crabs, so I'm hoping they'll enjoy reading a book about them!

We'll be finishing up Pagoo this week. At first dd didn't seem to enthralled with Pagoo, but now she loves to see what that crazy ole crab is up to in each chapter!! She loved when he lived in Traveling Towers.

I just bought Pagoo for my chiro's dc. They have hermit crabs and my dc were telling the chiro about Pagoo and how wonderful it was. Oh, and this week the local teacher store sent me a 40% off coupon, so we went. My dc found an ocean toob they wanted. When we got home, they opened it and there was a purple starfish in there. They were super excited!!! They even told their grandma about it tonight.
