Does anyone have a "Trick" or "tip" on how to remember the sometimes linking verbs? We're having a bit of difficulty here. The words my son remembers are similar, but.... not correct.

Ooo, ooo, ooo! *raises hand wildly* This is like one of the few things that I actually remember from my ps education and I successfully blow away DH when I rattle them off.
We learned them in 6th grade - had a great teacher! This is what she did. She broke them into categories and each week we had to memorize a new category. At the end of the week we would know the whole category. The next week we would learn a new category, review the prior category, and by the end of the week we could name all the verbs in two categories. The next week we would do the third category, add it to the list containing the last two weeks of verbs and voila! 3 categories learned! and so on, and so on til they were all memorized.
Here's how she broke them down:
Category 1
am
is
are
was
were
Category 2
be
being
been
Category 3
have
has
had
Category 4
do
does
did
Category 5
shall
will
should
would
Category 6
may
might
must
can
could
No real tips/tricks involved. Just straight memorization but it helped that they were broken down into smaller bites.
It's fun being able to reel them off at super sonic speed to someone!
HTH!
