Spontaneous Narration from a Twosie!

Post by KristinBeth » Wed Feb 23, 2011 11:17 am

I just had to share this. I'm going through LHTH with my 4 and 2 year old girls. I thought dd 2 was just following along and not getting too much out of it. But today we were acting out the story of baby Moses in Unit 7. She was watching intently. A short time later out came this spontaneous narration, while we were cleaning up breakfast (I grabbed a pen and wrote furiously) This is what she said (with a couple of "and then what happened?" from me):
"Moses mommy put him gently in the basket. She was saying goodbye. She cried. She was a woman. And she come back (who? "Moses"). She the princess was going somewhere to live in the gardens. She was doing something to do a heart for her baby Moses." Not bad for a 2 year old!! :)
Her 4 year old sister of course said, "That's not right! Moses's mom made a basket. She had tears in her eyes because she was sending her baby away. She kissed and hugged him and put him in the water. Then a princess came. Then she found him in the basket"
Another reason we love LHTH. The Bible Activity of acting out the story has really made an impression on my kids, and made "the story" come alive instead of just being something in a book. I am so happy about what they are retaining! :D
Thank you thank you thank you!

What a smart little cookie! :D When the word "narration" first formally comes up in the HOD plans, you can say, "Aww, nothing to worry about there. You've been doing it since you were 2 yo!" :D I too love how HOD helps the Bible (and learning in general) come alive for my dc. It makes learning fun and memorable. :)

Fun! I love the natural moments of spontaneous narration that happen. :) My three year old loves to tell big stories about things, its sooo funny!
