ANYWAY, I got the book Ben and Me from the library. She was reading it in the car. She and I stopped to run into a store quick while DH stayed in the van with the other kids. Well, 12yo ds couldn't keep his hands off and started reading it while we were gone. When we got back, he didn't want to relinquish the book!
Oh my, was my dd mad. My son said, "PLEASE just let me read it for the next hour and I will have it done, and THEN you can have it back." DD protested, but then said, "Fine, just read and be done with it so I can enjoy it in peace. If I don't, you'll be leaning into my space trying to read it with me." She had brought some other things to do, so I appreciated her spirit. I just loved that even though it was below his reading level, he couldn't resist it. I am also glad no blood was shed over this book!
Your dd sure handled that well - kuddos to her for that measure of self control.
