Hi....I keep hearing posts that reference to just using the right side of one program and the left side of another guide...what does this mean? We are doing Beyond and we just do each of the boxes on both pages every day. Am I missing something here?

I also cant believe this...but I am barely into Beyond and trying to put together another order for next school year! I just love this so much and it is working so well for our family....homeschooling with HOD.....is changing our lives so much I cant wait to start next year.....that is why I was concerned that maybe I was missing something....as far as which sides of the guide we are doing....

A huge praise.....on a whole other note.....Brooklyn has struggled with....math and reading...and really holding information...comprehension...I have notice though that math seems to be catching on for her....and today...I needed to get in the shower while Brooklyn did her math due to having a delivery coming....and I have never done this but I gave Brooklyn a few pages in math to work on....while I was in the shower....and told her to do the best she could...it was a bit of new math for her in the sense that they were grouping 10 together than adding more...then she had to figure how what the other number was .....for the answer...I thought this might cause her some problems but jumped in the shower...and came out...and she had totally figured out exactly what she needed to do...and had finished like 5 pages...and did fantastic....work....Every night as my husband and I lay in bed....I tell him...you can not believe how wonderful Brooklyn is doing in math....oh and the other day...she has always struggled with this....we were out to dinner .....and something came up about what was 2 less than 40 and Brooklyn ....said....just a minute...and she thought about it a couple seconds....and said 38...and I was like...wow how did you know that....so quickly...and she said....I just thought about it a minute and said to myself...if I have 40 and I take 2 away that leaves me with 38....Now if you have children who are whizzes at math...I can see why this would seem like no big deal! Our girl has struggled with it so...when she as a double digit number and comes up with an answer so quickly...and it is correct...that excites us! lol Beth in Idaho

If your daughter is solidly placed you would just do the book as is. Often parents that are combining do the left side of a guide with both children and the right side (which is math, reading, LA) out of different guides to match each child. In some cases a parent might choose to use two guides if a child places sort of on the line. I am glad you are having such a great experience with HOD. We are too!

I think Countrymom answered your question about left side/right side well. I just wanted to say congratulations on the math advances! It is so nice to see how children excel. I think the hands on activities help dc see the math concepts so well, and Singapore really works on those mental concepts too. It's a great combination. I'm glad you are having such a good year homeschooling with HOD!
