I'm getting ready to buy the 3rd grade 1 for my DD, we're most of the way through 2. Should I get the teacher's manual?

We are only on Lesson 31/32 and I haven't needed it yet--I did buy it though, just in case. However, I have an English degree and had a lot of training in grammar, etc. I would say it depends on if grammar is one of your strengths or not!

Hmmm, IDK if I need grammar help, lol. I'm half way through level 2 and I'm OK. Shipping is awful to Canada, so I don't want to pay shipping twice AND I don't to pay for a teachers manual I wont use. Maybe I should check out the scope and sequence on that book.

HI there,
I am doing R&S 3 with my dd9 and I like using the manual so my daughter can use her own book. The teacher's manual also has oral review for every lessons to revise what has been learnt. I don't do this all the time, but when I feel the old mental clogs could be getting rusty for her. In regards to needing it for the level of grammar included, you could probably get through it without the answers. Sometimes it is nice to have it there in case I am having a lazy brain day, but it is not difficult. Hope that helps!

We didn't use a TM for R & S English 2, but for R & S English 3 (on up) it is a good idea to have it. It has the oral review questions in it, which are important to do. I learned this the hard way, as I forgot to do them for half of 3. When I realized I should be doing those halfway through, my ds had a harder time answering them and obviously didn't know the answers like he should have. We played catch-up for awhile.

As we are nearing finishing R & S 4, I can see how important learning the answers to the oral questions has been. It has helped my ds retain much more information, and therefore apply it better. I'd get the TM for these reasons (plus it's nice for the answers for the diagramming portion, most of us could tend to be a tad rusty on that

).
In Christ,
Julie
