Question about DITHOR pages

Okay, I was wondering when ds does his pages for DITHOR, and he misspells words, should I have him correct it all? He's not the best speller, but today I tried to give him some independence doing the page on his own and it has several misspelled words. Thanks for any info.

Edwena,
I usually just note the correct spelling of the word in pencil in the margin next to the one that isn't spelled correctly and have my kiddos erase and copy the word correctly. Then, we erase my words so that only their words remain. It looks less like something I'm counting wrong then and more like practice.

I actually did this for all my years of teaching in the classroom too and found it very effective in helping kiddos correct their mistakes without the tears.

The students just had to show me when it was fixed.
Blessings,
Carrie

Carrie, thanks for the tip. I didn't want him to leave the misspelled words, but I also didn't want to sit there while he was erasing and rewriting. This was a great idea!!

A lot of times if there is a lot of writing involved we'll discuss the answers and if I think she'll have trouble with a word I'll write it on a separate page. I also write any names she might need to write.

The tip about writing difficult names and words for reference is a great tip too and one that is very CM! It could be done on a markerboard as well if you have one.

Carrie
