Good question! I just thought it was like welcome to the HOOD. But my super intelligent (rolling eyes with sarcasm! ) dd of 21 years pointed out to me that it would sound like a HOT or POT.
I think HOODies just seems more like we belong...don't you? :D Of course the spelling would be different.

I thought it was "hoodies", too Susie. :D But...when learning how to quote someone on a different thread, I saw that some thought it was "hotties" or "hoe-dies". I think Mary, who coined the phrase, meant "hoe-dies". But, I really don't know...

I say it long o sound long e sound. You all are so funny! It's not an official HOD term! It was a little joke that took when Mary came over to the nice fluffy side of HOD. You all can say it however you want. In my head it was Hoh dees (long O, long E). It was my official welcome term for Mary coming on board. So she did not actually start it but I guess technically she was in fact the first official HODie, hahaha! It started on the HSR board before she was lovingly dragged over here.

Well, then. We need Mary to clarify this very important matter!
But seriously, do you refer yourself as a Hoodie, HODie? Or do you use it only on this board?

I have always thought it would be said the way W2W explained it. But that is just how my brain processed HODie when I saw it. :D

I'm with w2w and gina....ho (long o) die (long e).

But, I guess you could spell it however you wish...

hoodie 8) for extra cool moms
hoddie (as in hottie, for all the hot mamas using HOD :D )
hodie (the original one from Mary)

It's like the olive and betty thing....what kind of hodie are you!! :D

I always pronounced it as H-oa-dies w/a long o because of the spelling of H-O-D.....you know, the letter o.

Too funny.

Am I the only one who thought of it as an abbreviation? As in, very time I see it I say in my head, ""h" "o" "d"

I don't say it with pronunciation, I say the letters.
I'm too strange, I know. 8)
