1st day of LHFHG!

Post by crlacey » Tue Mar 25, 2008 12:49 pm

So we've been zipping through LHTH doing two or more lessons a day. My daughter finally asked for what amounted to almost a week's worth of lessons in one day. So even though I've been trying very hard to hold off until at least the summer to start LHFHG (when she'll officially be 5), we jumped in today. I must say it went well. It is a perfect fit for her. Just enough of everything to keep her happy. And she didn't ask for more school. Once we were finished, we reviewed everything that we'd talked about and off she went happy to play.

So I think my plan is to still do some LHTH in the morning since her 2 yr old brother enjoys doing some of it. But our main form of school will be LHFHG during little brother's nap time.

crlacey,

I'm so glad you had a great start to LHFHG! It does sound like your dd is ready for it. I love little ones asking for school! It warms my heart. :D

It sounds like a fun plan to do LHTH in the mornings with your little guy too. Don't feel like you have to do both though, unless time allows. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Oh that sounds so wonderful!!!! Hannah Grace is always asking to do something. A little while ago it was the Singing Bible, then it was to read Ping and then Richard Scarry. We were scheduled to get to the sandy "D" activity in Lil Hands after our reading session, but she fell asleep. Hehe I might get to do it later today, but we are supposed to build a pin extending off of the chicken house and then rerun the fence around the garden and plant our veggies after dh wakes up from his nap. Soooo I don't know if we will get to LHTH today or not. Infact I need to be cooking supper early so it will be done when I colapse this evening. But I want to tell you *I*, ME, MYSELF.....I am chomping at the bit to get to LHFHG!!! I still have 2 years to go before Hannah is 5. I think I may die waiting!!! I do force myself to focus on the beautiful wonders of the hear and now, but then I get the little flashes of my dreams of Lil Hearts and my heart goes pitter patter! Have fun mama!

Crystal,

I am in the same boat with Susie, can hardly stand the wait for LHFHG and you make it sound even better! I can see my daughter will not be ready for all of LHFHG in the near future so, we will happily continue on with LHTH.

Sounds like your daughter is quite ready for the transition, glad to hear it is going well.

You know, I have been in your shoes before, when I had only 3 older children that I started hsing when the youngest was in 4th grade. Then we used only ABeka for the first year and a half. After I got a taste of other learning styles I always wished that I could have had the opportunity to hs them when they were little bits. Little did I know that God would bless me with another tricycle motor!! We didn't think it was possible without a miracle. Well, I have my little miracle to school from the start, and I do really enjoy the stage she is in. I guess it is like a buffet where you want to eat it all but you stomach will only hold so much! I think we can all blame Carrie for our endless desire for more HOD!! How dare she create such a wonderful curriculum!! Hehehe

You girls! You just have such a way with words and pumping people up with joy about HOD!!! :) Isn't it great to get excited to teach next year too? I talk to so many moms who are either on the verge of burnout or are definitely headed there. Or, they are so stressed out as a program they liked is ending, and they don't know what to do next. I'm looking forward to doing Beyond... next year, after we finish LHFHG, and also excited to do Preparing! The Emerging Reader's Set is another favorite of mine, and I can hardly wait to get into that. Whoa... I know what you mean, hold back, no need to rush in, but ooooooh, it's just too exciting to see the world of reading open up to my dc! I always jump the gun with teaching phonics. Anyway, this is just a happy gathering place to read about others' success stories with HOD. Keep 'em comin'!
