Excited about picking back up with HOD!

Post by inHistiming » Tue Jan 04, 2011 10:50 am

We have had quite an eventful year or so and have only done HOD here and there. We've used this and that from our shelves as we could, but I just didn't feel able or even want to try to do a full program in the fall, being at the end of my pregnancy and then after the baby's arrival. It turns out it was a great decision because we have had a very trying first few months. This was my first c-section and I ended up getting an infection, then having to be on IV treatments every day for 2 weeks because the first two meds did not get rid of it. This caused my husband to have to miss work to be here to help me....his employer is very understanding so it wasn't a problem, but still quite stressful. Then, my husband had a minor surgery and HE ended up getting an infection. Thankfully, his antibiotics worked. After all that, everyone in the family ended up with colds/coughs (except the baby, PTL!) Throw in a newborn who was keeping us up for hours at night (our others never did that...just had their feeding and went right back to sleep!) and we were about to the ends of our ropes! Still, we had a wonderful Christmas vacation with family. Now that we are home and all of the drama seems to be over with, we are able to enjoy having our new little one more.....and experience what it's like to have 5 children without all the drama!

I have begun where we left off with ds7 in Beyond...and will be starting my dd10 and ds12 in their own HOD programs as well....I am very excited about having my son go through RTR! My dd will finish the remaining units in Preparing... before moving on to CTC in May or June. I can't wait to get our box and dig in....I just know the kids will love it, and so will I! Looking forward to being more involved in the board discussions again, too....I'm sure I'll have questions and maybe I can help some too. Happy New Year to all of you! :D

InHistiming - I am so sorry about your infection, and your dh's as well! :( I'd read your blog awhile back and have been praying for your health for some time now. I am glad to hear you are on the mend. I know what special challenges poor health can bring, and I am looking forward to a healthier happier time ahead for you now! I know when I went through some past surgeries and health concerns that just feeling healthy again made me feel like a brand new woman - like I had a brand new lease on life! I pray this is true for you too. I think you have a good plan ahead for your dc, and I will continue to pray for you as you get back into your year. Thank you so much for sharing an update here - and I will be sure to thank God for your recovery.

Love in Christ,
Julie

inHistiming,

I'm so sorry to hear about your health battles. I will pray that the Lord will continue to be near to you as you are hopefully on the healing path. :D I'm glad that you are feeling better and are moving toward a bit of a more "normal" moment in your life after much upheaveal. Be careful as you re-enter your life not to overdo though. I'm not sure whether it may be wise to ponder combining your two oldest kiddos in CTC (I couldn't quite remember for sure if your son had been through CTC) but it may be something worth pondering. You'll definitely know best, I just don't want to see your health suffer any more blows and would love you to have a less hectic schedule to be able heal fully. RTR is quite independent, so it may be fine but I'm just thinking of you!

Blessings,
Carrie
