Hello everyone!

We are loving HOD and are in our second year of using it... We have a 1st grader and kindergartner. Anyway... They are loving the curriculum - and I do, too.

My quick question... I've found that the kids move very fast through the worksheet-type stuff... (ie: DD is almost through "Finding the Answers" and DS is almost done with "Thinking Skills" - according to the schedule they'd be working on those through the end of the school year... They are also both through their handwriting books.) What do you recommend using after they are through with these books? I've looked at local education stores - and I don't seem to find anything I like as well as these... Please let me know!

I'll move this post over to the Main Board so more moms will see it as that is where all new posts begin. If your kiddos are through their "workbook" type assignments, you may just wish to move onto the next level in each of them. For example, move on from Finding the Answers to Thinking Skills for Grade 1 and move on from the K handwriting to the first grade option. For your older student, who has just completed Thinking Skills for Grade 1, you really wouldn't have to move on to anything else in that area unless you desired to do so. The Thinking Skills book is one in a series, so you could always check out Grade 2. Typically after first grade handwriting, we move into copywork, so if you think your first grader is ready for that you could have her copy a bit of something a couple of times a week from LHFHG.

For example, you could have her copy the Bible verse that she is learning for the week in LHFHG, or copy a sentence from the Thornton Burgess book you are reading aloud, or copy a sentence from the science or history text, etc. If you prefer to have her do a handwriting workbook instead, you could always get the next one of the handwriting workbook that you used previously.
