Hi! I just wanted to share this today. I have found that my children really like listening to the History portion being read aloud while they are coloring a sheet that is related to it. For example, today they have been coloring pilgrims, squanto sheets printed from the internet, along with Thanksgiving crosswords and mazes that I printed off. They did all of this lying on the floor while I read the history section. I think it helps them to cement what they are hearing into their minds more.

We also listened to some audio of terms the pilgrims used that I found online as well. That was fun. Anyway, it seems that if I have sheets related to the story printed off and ready each day for them while they listen, they do very well with that. I hope that helps someone who has a squirmy learner who has a hard time sitting still to listen. 2 out of 3 of those are mine! This really helps!

We did something like this with LHFHG. We used the coloring book that went with History for Little Pilgrims. My dd loves to draw so much that she often illustrates what I'm reading aloud to them be it history, science, or storytime. It bothered me at first because I thought she wasn't paying attention, but I found she remembered better when she was moving than when she was sitting still and looked like she was paying attention. I've never tried mazes. I love that idea! :D
