How to schedule Bigger to finish in June?

I am anxiously awaiting my Bigger guide and I can't wait to start. Since my DH is a school teacher, we try to finish out year out in June. Mainly because Dad poses to be a distraction to our school day! We LOVE having him home but very little gets done as the dc want to be with him (and he them). Anyway, I am switching to Bigger now and I am 9 weeks behind. What would you suggest we do to get back on track? We are already doing R & S Grammar and math so we are ok on those.

I also have to add that you ladies are wonderful here. I have never felt more welcome or "at home" on a message board! Thank you!

I can't help with your question but always find it neat to "meet" a fellow "teacher wife" ! Have a wonderful time with Bigger. I am sure you will get many wonderful suggestions from this fabulous group of ladies!

Just throwing this out, what about just finishing when your dh is done and picking up where you left off at summer's end? Going "off schedule" does take some getting used to and is often out of our comfort zone; I used to be there but have already shelved the Aug - May idea. Actually, now that I think about it, Preparing (the next guide) is on a 4-day schedule, so if you started Bigger where you left off next fall and then once in Preparing did it 5 days a week, you would eventually catch up somewhere along the way. I have the Bigger guide, but we are not there yet so I am not good on other ideas.

I know all about daddies being distractions! In a good way - but yes, at our house too - Daddy is the fun guy and not much gets done when he's around! It would be tough to double up Bigger Hearts to gain 9 weeks, so I think I'd just take the summer off and enjoy dh being home. Then next year, come back, finish out the 9 weeks of BHFHG, and do a 5 day week school year next year. PHFHG is a 4 day week plan, so you'll gain 7 weeks there just by doing school 5 days a week instead of 4 days a week. Just begin year 2 weeks early, and WAH-LAH!! You've made up your 9 weeks:D I hope that makes sense! But that's just one idea. I do believe their our ladies doing 1 BHFHG unit in 4 days instead of 5 days, so maybe they'll chime in and that will fit what you are wanting more! :D Oh, and I enjoy this board so much too - it is an encouraging place to be. :D

In Christ,
Julie

I think I will have 7 or 8 weeks left over and I plan to just read the history and do any activities we want over the summer. I will not do science/storytime/poetry/etc. I will probably do two days of history at a time, and this will be mainly for exposure to the topics and not so much for retention.

I want to be able to start fresh w/ Preparing in the fall and only have a 4 day week. The fifth day we do subjects that need to be caught up on or takes a 5 day schedule, but it's a light day. My dh is home on Mondays and we like to do field trips.

If I were not wanting to complet all the years through Mod history before my dd started highschool, then I would just wrap the last 9 weeks into the following year and so forth causing some of the guides to be used in highschool.
