Question about instructions for using the Emerging Readers
Question about instructions for using the Emerging Readers
I'll be using the emerging readers in the fall with BLHFHG and am wondering what kind of instruction the appendix gives. Does it give what specific book and page numbers to read for each day or does it leave it open to just go at your own pace? Would also love to hear from someone who has used the emerging readers and how they liked them. Thanks.

Marsha is right on here. I used the Emerging Reader's set two years ago, and I'll be using it again with Beyond... next year. Opening up and finding the page numbers mapped out, along with great questions was wonderful! Also, the books were chosen so carefully, represent all of the genres, and were put in a nice order, on a continuum from easier to harder. We found the pace and the level of reading required to be great for our ds. Finding appropriate readers for the emerging reader stage can be incredibly hard, so I really loved not having to do that. My attempts with that before the Emerging Reader's Set existed were not fun. It's harder than it seems! I think you'll enjoy it. Wait until you get to "Owl at Home" - my personal favorite from the set. It is absolutely hilarious! HTHMarsha wrote:Hi,
It does give specifics. It tells what books and page numbers to read daily.
Plus it has, I think, 3 questions for it.

Also just wanted to say that even though it is by the unit lesson and day it is not that you can't still go at your own pace. You still can.
In fact we are ahead of schedule and I have not found being off in the unit to be a problem at all. It is kind of like its own deal enough to run it however you want. It can easliy be customized to your child's pace any way yoou need to.

All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children. Isaiah 54:13

Thanks for your help. Just what I was hoping to hear. Can't wait to start. I think we'll probably start sometime during the summer instead of waiting for fall!
