still musing over the schedule

Post by deltagal » Thu Oct 21, 2010 2:28 pm

Hello again...

My gang is doing wonderfully with their HOD guides. I'm seeing so much progress! What a delight. However, our daily schedule is such that we in truth only have 3 1/2 hours to give to the HOD guides. This is simply not enough time for my oldest 2 to get through all their work. My 9 and 6 yo in Bigger and LHFHG do fine. But my 2 oldest in CTC (13 yo) and PHFHG (11 yo) need to somehow rotate a portion of the material, etc. to shave off some time. I'm just pondering how to do this. Any thoughts?

Could you post your current schedule for the two older children? It might help to see what they are already doing and the allotted time frames.

I agree with pp - that would be super helpful! :D One quick idea - my ds started (on his own) getting up 30 minutes early to do his independent science. He was already getting up 15 minutes earlier than everyone else to do his Bible Quiet Time. This week, he decided to get up and do his science. I put a few independent things last in his schedule, and told him if he ever wanted to get up earlier and do them, he could, but that I'd not formally schedule it that way. Today, he finished at 11 AM, and thought that was pretty neat! Plus, he got to see my dh before he left for work, which he loved. I don't know if this will become a permanent thing for him or not, but maybe this would work for your kiddos? I used to get up at 6 AM when I went to school - how I would have enjoyed that more if my day would have been done so early as a reward! I'd love to see your schedule too though - and we can look at that too!

I would be happy to post my schedule...but I don't know how to do it. Could someone link me to a thread that tells how to post a document?

Thank you!

I have to make a PDF, then a JPEG of it, and then I put it on photobucket and link it here - but maybe someone more computer savvy has an easier way! :D

Florence,
I am not tech savvy, so the easiest way for me to do it is just to type up the times & topics rather than trying to upload a file.

tollhouse - I think it would be helpful to see the big picture and I think it would be confusing if I typed it all in a column.

Julie - I know how to make a pdf, but how do I make a jpeg of the pdf?

An hour or so later...
I think I've figured out how to do all this... but it made me nervous...posting our family's schedule. I'm going to take that as Divine prodding and not post the schedule. Thank you for your willingness to help...
