HOD is great for those tougher season's in life

Post by LynnH » Tue Oct 12, 2010 5:52 am

The thread on HOD being so good for kids with special needs got me thinking about how it is also perfect for when you go through those "tougher" seasons of life. Starting back in March our lives took several unexpected turns. First my mom fell down the stairs and was in the hospital for almost 5 months, then my dh's mom's cancer returned and quickly progressed and she passed away this summer, and then our closest friends/neighbors/music minister and his wife very unexpectedly moved. We also have just left our church of 11 years and moved to a new one. In addition my dd was diagnosed with ADD and we have been trying different medications for her. All of these things have taken a toll on our family, and if I wasn't doing HOD with my ds I am not sure I could have kept up with the homeschooling. On the days when I felt like I just didn't have the energy to do anything, I was still able to do school and actually have fun with it. HOD just makes it so easy. I wish my dd was able to do HOD, but that didn't work out with what she needed to study, but just having one that I know is getting a solid, God honoring program sure helps. Also it is amazing how God has spoken to me through the verses my ds is learning or something he is studying. So once again Carrie I just have to say thank you for letting God use you to develop a curriculum that meets so many needs in so many people.

Lynn,
Thanks for sharing your testimony. I have also been blessed by HOD during tough seasons, and definitely God has spoken to me through my daughter's lessons. Sometimes I feel like it is written for me :)

Lynn - Thanks for sharing this! You had some especially trying times to get through all at once. I am glad you were able to keep your positive focus through it all and that HOD continued to be a blessing to you. I have often felt when going through trying times that HOD is about the only thing going right still. I'm glad you are on the other side of all of what's happened, and I hope you continue to thrive using HOD! :D

Lynn,

Thank you so much for taking time to share this with us. You have had much happen in your life in the past months. I am thankful to know that HOD is making homeschooling possible for you during these very trying times. Your post blessed my heart today, as we deeply desire to equip parents to homeschool no matter what events may be surrounding them. I am so grateful to lean on the Lord as we travel the homeschool path.

Blessings,
Carrie
