Singapore Earlybird change?

Post by rgrindle » Fri Oct 08, 2010 8:00 pm

I am looking at the Singapore to go with LHFHG and, hoping to get a more detailed description of the differences, clicked on the link to the Singapore site. The workbooks they show don't have the same cover or names as the ones shown on the HOD website. Instead of having the Earlybird 1A, 1B, 2A, and 2B, it simply has Earlybird Activity Book A and Earlybird Activity Book B. Has Singapore changed something? Which description should I look at on their site to get an idea of what I'm ordering here? Now I'm really confused about what to order for DS! :?

Yes, Singapore has changed their Earlybird Math. HOD has arranged special print runs of the previous version, the one used by HOD that has activities in the LHFHG guide. So to use the activities in LHFHG you need to order Earlybird math from the HOD site. I'm not sure if there's anywhere online you can see samples anymore, maybe someone else knows. If you can't find the samples anywhere, PM me and I'll email you a few pages. HTH :D

Thanks so much! I was beginning to think I was going crazy! I'll keep looking for the older samples, now that I know that there really is a difference, that will help my quest!

I still can't find any samples of the K books. Did the Primary change as well? It looks the same from the cover pictures. :? If it's still the same, and I can find samples of it, I could use that to get an idea if the Primary is too advanced for DS, then decide to go with the K or Primary...

rsgrindle,

The Primary Math U.S. Editions are still the same. It is only the Earlybird Math that has changed. Here is a list of the scope and sequence of the Earlybird concepts covered by unit in LHFHG. Link (scroll down to the final page on the link): http://www.heartofdakota.com/pdf/little ... -intro.pdf

What has your child done for math so far, and how old is your child? We can help advise if we know a bit more information when you get time. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
