OT: Sinking Fast! Need Prayer!

Post by 4Hispraise » Sun Sep 26, 2010 7:33 am

Oh, Ladies, I am B.E.G.G.I.N.G. for your prayers. I am in the middle of migraine madness. 14 days and counting with a headache that is a roller coaster ride. From throwing up and losing my sight to just a mild nagging pain (like a fly not worth swatting)...it just won't go away. I visited the doc last week, but he couldn't help. Last time I ended up in the hospital for a week, on iv steroids b/c of brain swelling - but we have no insurance, so I am doing all that I can to avoid that trip!

My poor kiddos...I just keep praying God will give me what I need every day to accomplish His purposes joyfully...but I am fading fast. Struggling in homeschooling because my head hurts so badly. Trying, trying not to be short-tempered or complaining with the treasures God has entrusted to me. I don't want them to learn to handle adversity like that!

Thank you for your prayers!!

Oh gosh, it sounds awful. I am adding you to my prayers right now. God be with you as you deal with this pain and I pray that a solution can be found to this problem so that you do not have to continue to suffer this way. *hugs*

I just prayed. Have you suffered with these before? Do they always last this long? Have you seen a doctor?

Oh, I am so sorry. While I have never had a migraine that lasted that long (I can't even imagine). I understand migraines. When I was about 12-13 I was in and out of the hospital with migraines, tests, ct scans you name it. Finally they said it was allergies, signed my up for allergy shots and my parents sent me to a class to learn biofeedback. The biofeedback helped more than anything. This is all I can recommend trying. Take 2 Excedrine Migraine tablets, go into a pitch black room (the last time I had one was two weeks ago and my closet was the darkest room I could find. Lay on your back and concentrate breathing with your diaphragm. If you don't know how to do that, put your hand on your chest while you breath and try to make sure your chest stays still while breathing with your stomach only. This may take a little bit of practice, but keep doing it until the intensity of the headache calms down. Think only of your breathing until you get the hang of it. I recommend calling some "teacher sick days" in until this subsides. Stress makes it worse as you probably know. If you have anyone who can take care of the children for a while, I would recommend letting them help you.

Not sure what has triggered your migraine, but my last one was definitely allergies. I am taking a daily allergy pill and will hopefully be able to avoid it again. Also, eat fresh fruits and veggies and nothing with MSG, which is a trigger for me. Any boxed food, while it may say "No MSG" on the label will still have MSG in another term i.e. "natural flavors, natural flavorings" Just read labels...and try not to eat packaged foods while you get this under control. When you are feeling better you can research Migraine triggers, until then just rest!!!!
Hope this helps some...am praying for you!!

Oh no, I'm so sorry it won't go away! Praying for you right now.... :D

I've had migraines too, although mine never last more than a day. Are you getting enough sleep? I know my trigger is sleep deprivation. I hope it goes away soon!!

Dear Lord, thank You for the awesome privilege of prayer. Thank You for hearing our prayers, for You have said that where two or three are gathered You are there. Lord we come together as moms, living in different areas, but united in heart and purpose to raise our sister to You. May she find shelter in You Lord and may You touch her body and bring healing. Thank You for being Sovereign and as our children come to us with their hurts, we come to You and we know that You want us to seek You and hold each other up. May she sense Your peace about duties as a teacher, displinarian, loving mother, and taking care of the home. May You not only bring healing to her body, but restore the days "the locusts have eaten". You are able to do more than we could ever ask or imagine. I pray this in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Just prayed for you!! These are no fun.

I have suffered these too. Although, they have seemed to have disappeared since having my last child! You could try having another   Otherwise, I would second what Heather said. Excedrin Migraine were a miracle drug for me. I did get imetrix shots in the doctor's office a couple of times when nothing else worked. They left me out of it for a couple of days, but pain free.

Triggers are a big thing, but finding them for you may take some time. I tried to get totally away from boxed meals, too. I also added vitamins. My mix in the end was a daily multi-vitamin, multi-carotene and magenesium/calcium. I have also heard that Riboflavin is another to make sure you have enough.

One strange thing I found is that when I started to feel one coming on, I'd eat something salty (chips, salted peanuts, sunflower seed, etc). It sometimes warded it off completely. Not sure why, but whatever works, right?

I hope and pray your current one goes away quickly!

Oh my do I empathize. I will be praying for you. I can't take the normal migraine meds but I did find relief. Sometimes it is worth a trip to the neurologist to get relief on these things. I still get mine from time to time but not every day like I was for so long. PM me if you like. B ut I will be praying. God is able to do all things!

Have you been checked for some kind of food allergies that could be bringing these on? Just a thought. Foods do a lot of different things to people. I know nightshade plants can cause migraines for many , as well as food preservatives, msg, dairy, peanuts, a variety of things. Might be worth checking into.

Praying for you tonight,

Tina

Thanks for all your prayers! Survived the last couple of days. School is not going well, but it is going. Praising the Lord that Carrie has CTC planned for so much independent work. Ds is doing all that he can on his own!

Planning on a trip to doc again. For those of you who asked: Yes, I have been checked for allergies, etc. We can't find my trigger...ARGH... :?

Thank you for all the helpful tips and advice. Am willing to try just about anything now!
