The Self-Study Extension Package for Older Students (grade 5/6) and the Self-Study Deluxe History Package (grade 3/4) are independent reading for the student.

So, the History and Science are meant to be read aloud?

This is what I thought from the beginning, but was just checking to make sure.

Thanks

I believe that's the case-my kids are enjoying being read to right now with Bigger-I'm sure that will be the case with the read-alouds in Preparing, too. I have all the books (some I ordered from another supplier to please the hubby on the cost ) except the 5/6 extension-I have to see if my older daughter's reading gets up to that level by the time we start. The History and Science books look so great!!!! Actually, ALL the books look great :!: makes it hard for me to wait-we are only on week 18 of Bigger  so I had to put all the new stuff in a big box and get it out of sight

We are only on week 5 of Bigger and I am already excited about Preparing.
I was waiting to order to make sure no books went out of print and would definitely be used.

So, who's more excited...the children or the parents ?

Hey Ladies,

You are doing such a wonderful job of answering each other's questions! 8)

You are right that the self-study extension and deluxe packages are meant for the child to read on their own. We also intend for the kiddos to read the science on their own (if they can swing it reading level wise). So, the science box is meant to be done independently each day. :D

As far as the history read-alouds, the main spines are intended to be read out loud by the parent as well as the Storytime selections. They just lend themselves well to out loud reading. However, in very busy home situations, or in situation where the kiddos are VERY strong readers, even the history spines could be read by the kiddo if desired.

Blessings,
Carrie

Ooh, thanks for answering that, Carrie! I think my kids are going to like reading the science on their own-the younger one, because she has just become a great reader and loves to read anything, and the older one because she loves science books :D I think I'll like it, too-a little less reading-aloud for me

Yes Lourdes, my son will love doing the science readings on his own too! He's ready for more independence (and I'm ready for him to move into that stage too)!

Blessings,
Carrie
