Would it be good to do LHTH at half speed?

Hi!
I'm using HOD for the first time this year, and we're all really loving it!
My 9 and 6 year olds are doing Beyond (with appropriate Math and L.A. for my 9 y.o.) and I'm doing Little Hands with my daughter who just turned 4.
We've finished the 3rd Unit, and we're really enjoying it, but I'm finding that I'm having less time to read books to her than I'd like. Since I really only have about 30 minutes each morning devoted to her, would it be reasonable to do Little Hands with her every other day, so then I could use the other days to read books to her. (She LOVES to be read to!)
I plan on doing a relaxed Kindergarten with her next year, so it would be okay with me if she's still doing Little Hands next year. (I would add some more Math and L.A. to it, I think.)
What do you think? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thank you!!!

It sounds fine to me, but I haven't used Little Hearts. I plan to use it with my dd2 for 2 years starting next fall. She will be 3.5-5.5. I will then start K with her when she is 5.5. She has a January birthday.

I haven't done LHTH, but would it be possible to do 1/2 of it each day then you would have time for some extra reading? I was just thinking that might be better than doing it every other day for the sake of consistency. I do think it is fine to slow down and even use LHTH with the right side K option of LHFHG for kindergarten. We used LHFHG for first grade and it is an excellent program for first grade. So you could easily stretch LHTH out over 2 years and wait to start LHFHG in first grade.

We're doing LHTH half-speed right now, and loving it!

You could certainly do that. The pp has a good consideration as well.

Julie

Thanks, Julie!

My life just seems like it's more than full of things to do right now, so any way to slow down the pace is worth it in my opinion.
By the way, could you please tell me what the "pp" is?
Thanks!

We're doing LHTH a little less than half speed.

We have our homeschool group on Fridays so we only school M-Th. We do the left column one day (with one Bible and/or one devotional) and then the right column along with the other Bible and devotional if that plan had it, the next day. We do the finger play both days. We also read a story each morning out of an anthology (one of several that we have) as well as a poem or nursery rhyme, depending on which book I'm using. All of that takes us about 30 min. Then we also add some other activities for each letter for the little ones to do while I do school with my oldest. I've also added in the little R&S workbooks for my 4 1/2 year old. (He does this while big sister does math or something else fairly independent) This is his pre-k year, and next year we'll continue LHTH along with handwriting and the rest of the R&S workbooks from LHFHG. We might also add in the math from LHFHG too. I'm still deciding on that one though. I hope that helps some!

This is VERY helpful.

Thank you for posting the details of how you do it. I think it's a good idea to do the fingerplay each day. It would help my daughter to remember it better, and also it only takes a couple of minutes. I think I'll start doing something like it! On the days where Little Hands doesn't have any "table work" we usually do a page or so of a R&S workbook, so we could keep doing that.
Thank you!
