Extending over from last year?

We worked on BHFG last year but didn't finish. We loved it so much and took it slower and added more activites and field trips, etc. So we are extending our curriculum for another 2mths or so. Has anyone done this? I just don't want her to miss any core info. Debating if i should just move on to next level now so she doesn't get too far behind.. I already have Preparing ready to go. SHe is 3rd grade(8yrs old) this year. However, we are on the signapore 3A already and advanced grammer and writing.
THanks!

It sounds like you are in a great position. I wouldn't rush ahead at this point...keep enjoying Bigger. You've got plenty of time! And she's still moving ahead in the Basics. Way to go mom and dd! If you are in Preparing by the beginnin of 4th grade you'll be right on "target."

I am doing LHFHG with my 7yo. The guides allow for multiple ages and 7 is on the upper end of Little Hearts. If your dd is 8 and doing Bigger, you definitely aren't behind. My dd will just begin Bigger when she starts third grade and will be 9 years old. There is flexibility in what grade you use the guides. You just keep your dd in her level of math and reading.

I definitely plan to keep going until I finish a guide. I think the guides build on the one before in some ways, so I don't want to skip anything. :)

I also think you should carry over...I love how we can go at our own pace with HSing! My DD is 8 (3rd grade) and we are just starting Beyond with Bigger 3Rs. We won't get to Preparing until 5th grade.

We usually start our school year finishing the last several weeks of the previous guide. I love doing it this way because it helps us ease into school by doing a familiar guide/routine before moving to the next guide. I will start Bigger with my 3rd graders in Oct. so I think that you would be fine finishing Bigger before moving into Preparing.
