I'll give my oldest son more time w/ Bigger before I rave about that too much as it has only been 4 days. Things are going well for him, but I am scaling back the amount of work just a bit to ease him into it. (i.e. we haven't started spelling.)

I am so excited about LHFHG w/ my 5 and 7 yr. old boys, though!! They beg for school. They love Reddy Fox! I love how much fun they are having with the rhymes (we're in unit 2.) Most importantly, it is helping build their relationship to use this program together. They actually spontaneously hugged today! They argue the most of all my kids, so it brings tears to my eyes to see this change in their relationship.

One more thing: Carrie KNOWS boys! I shouldn't have doubted it because she has 4 and her sister has 3! I am amazed, though, at how these curriculums are written to account for the activity that our boys need. The book choices are so appropriate too. We are reading George Rogers Clark for Bigger. My boys are all eating it up and carrying it over into their free time play.

Thank you for your help in placement! I appreciate the time that Carrie and Julie give to this board. I also appreciate other HOD users chiming in!

Bramble,

Hooray! I'm so glad to hear that your 5 and 7 year old are enjoying LHFHG! We have loved doing it with our kiddos too! :D

It sounds like you're finding your way in Bigger Hearts too, which is good! Bigger can take time to ease into and is a real growing year for the kiddos as they are no longer in the first years of school. We pray you will enjoy your homeschool journey with HOD! :D

I appreciate your kind words of encouragement to me today too. They blessed my heart!

Blessings,
Carrie

That's wonderful to hear, Bramble! :D I have been trying to make it a point to pray about placement advice before I give it, as I feel it is so important that I want God's hand in it right away. I know that my advice isn't going to be exactly right all of the time, but maybe someone will read it and know that is what they should do, or maybe someone will read it and know that isn't what they should do - but that somehow God will reveal it and use me to help families use HOD as He intends is the hope! I cannot tell you how much I love knowing HOD is being used in someone's home, as I feel it is so Christ-centered and is a way for the Lord to be present through all of a child's homeschooling years - glory be to God! :D :D :D It's good to hear your dc are doing well. I laughed outright at the "spontaneous hug" - that's a BIG deal for boys! :D What a precious sight to see - may the Lord continue to have His hand in your homeschooling with HOD!

In Christ,
Julie
