Quick question about Beyond Reading about History

We've just finished up our second day of Beyond. Fantastic!!! Anyway, I was wondering about the Reading about History box. I know I read the pages aloud, do I require anything else? Do I ask them to narrate back to me? I don't see directions for that. Is it okay just to read it? Not sure what to do. I don't want to complicate things, but want to do what I'm suppose to do.

We just read the pages, I read the key idea that is listed in the box, and that's it. You could do more but it's really not necessary. The Bible Study usually refers back to the story with questions or the key idea will relate it back to the history reading. I think once you've been through a week or two you'll see how much your dc will actually retain. Enjoy!

You're getting some great advice! :D

We, also, just read through the listed pages, out loud. Usually after I've read the key idea to them, some discussion usually follows. It doesn't have to, though. Usually we have a lot of great discussion about the readings, and always the verse and Bible time. Sometimes just having a short talk about it helps to cement the ideas/concepts in their minds and hearts. The wonderful way these stories are presented and told seam to really help the children to relate to what's happening in the story.

Hope you enjoy Beyond as much as we are! :D

In Christ,

Lisa

Edwena,

The ladies have already given you great advice! At the Beyond level all of the other activities on the left side of the page go right along with your history reading, so they are actually your follow-up to the reading. Simply do them after the reading, and read the key ideas, and you'll see the connections. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
