What are musts to start Beyond Little Hearts?

Post by Rachelle » Sat Aug 28, 2010 1:04 am

If money is really tight right now what do I need to begin Beyond? I will get all the books but I need to buy some time essentially.

I've got the Early Reader's Bible so that should take a while with the emerging readers schedule I assume? I also have Squanto so my literature is set to start. But of the history texts is there one used prior to the others in the sequence of lessons so I could just purchase one to start (how far will it get me in weeks?) or do I use all the texts right from the beginning. I know in Little Hearts the Pilgrims book was used long before the other came into the picture so I wondered if Beyond is similar.

Also, I've got some other devotional materials here. Do the Morning Bells devotionals go with the topics or verses studied in a significant way or can I get away with using what I have without compromising the program?

So far we have used American Pioneers and Patriots, and began with Stories of the Pilgrims on Unit 3, day 1 (yesterday). I just checked and Boys and Girls of Colonial Days begins on Day 1 of Unit 5...so you'll need the history books pretty much right away. The Early Reader's Bible is used in the emergent reader's schedule for the first 9 weeks I think, so that will last a while. Others of the books are probably available at the library...that's what we did the first time we used Beyond here. The Bible is also used for history on day 5 of the units....not sure about the devotional. Mine is missing, so we have been skipping it for now....have to check our boxes from our move to see if I an find it. I don't think using your own would take away from the program, but that's just me. HTH I think you'll love Beyond. We did the first time and are enjoying again with my ds 7 and dd 10 (adding 'extras' for her).

Though it is a very inexpensive book to purchase, I just wanted to let you know that Morning Bells is a public domain book and available online to download just do a google search. It might be more difficult for you to find the right devotional as the page numbers might not line up as listed in the guide, but it might get you by for a while until you can get the actual book. The topics in the devotional are linked to the verses studied.
