1st full day of CTC and LHFHG completed

Post by tbarr12 » Wed Aug 25, 2010 12:35 pm

We just finished our first full day of CTC and LHFHG, and did it in 4 hours, 45 minutes! I think that's not bad, considering I was anticipating a 6-hour day! I did sort of feel like we were "cramming it in" in the morning, so maybe I can slow down a little and take our time more on some things. I will be so glad when we get in a rhythm - we just moved into our house 2 weeks ago, so not much feels like it's in a rhythm yet!!! I'm also not ready to give up on ds yet on CTC - so far (2 days completed) he seems to be doing fine.

The best part was the painting in Poetry! We all did it together - even my 6 yo dd - there was NO WAY she was going to let big brother and sister paint without her! I even did it, partly to show the kids what to do, and partly to give my creative side a little outlet! It was so fun,and so easy to accomplish!

I'm thinking we'll do 4 days of CTC/week, and truly take Monday mornings (before co-op) off, except maybe for working hard on Math facts. My oldest dd is really hurting in that area. That way we'll all know if we work hard for those 4 days, we'll have Monday morning to look forward to.

Thanks for listening to me think out loud! Tracey

Good for you! We're not close to doing CTC yet, but I had to reply because we all painted together today, too. My ds had an art activity in Beyond and my dd wasn't about to be left out of the fun. I also painted a sample to show him what to do, too. :D

Hooray for a good first few days! :D I am impressed. You were wise to take time to plan out a workable schedule for completing CTC and LHFHG. I want to encourage you that your time will fall off as you get into a routine with CTC. We started at 8:15 AM last year with CTC/Beyond/LHTH, and had to take lunch in the middle and finish after that for the first few weeks. But, by the end of the third to fourth week, we were finishing everything by lunch time quite easily. I like your idea of just enjoying the morning of the co-op day. I think that's important to do too! :D Congrats on a well-planned, happy start to school! Way to go, mom! :D

Tracey,

I am very impressed with your first couple of days doing both LHFHG and CTC! It sounds like you are off to a good start and that your schedule is going well. :D I'm so glad you enjoyed the painting in CTC! We thoroughly enjoyed it here too! :D

Blessings,
Carrie
