Sharing HOD philosophy with dh

Post by psreit » Wed Aug 25, 2010 8:40 am

I was going to ask for help finding a thread, but then I remembered the topic, 'Encouraged by HOD philosophy'. Julie replied and told about how Carrie has been asked to write guides without the Bible. She explained the HOD ministry and that the Austins would not leave the Bible out of their guides, even though they could make a lot of money by doing that.

I wanted to share that with dh, so he can see how HOD has been written to minister to families and is just not another curriculum. When I was looking at dd's math book last evening, I opened the guide and said 'Carrie says .........' and proceeded to read her instructions on that math activity. Dh asked, 'Who's Carrie?." (I know I've mentioned her name before :) ) I said she is the one who writes the HOD guides. He says, 'So, you're on a first name basis?' I explained how she responds on this board. (He knows I'm on this board quite often) I told him how we've all become friends on here. She doesn't do it just because we bought her guides. :D I just thought it would be good for him to see this. He lets the homeschooling to me, so he is sort of 'out of the loop'. I want him to see how HOD is working differently than other things we have used. He doesn't understand CM, but I know he will be impressed knowing that the Austins are reaching out to minister to families through these guides. :D

Pam,

Thanks for sharing with your husband about what you're doing and the way we get to know one another here! :D I consider the board a blessing and the interactions I get to have with each of you ladies a true privilege. It is a joy and an encouragement to me to share in your lives. :D I also love to think that this board is helping families have a great HOD experience as we work toward solutions to each family's needs. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Carrie,
Dh did read Julie's reply on the thread "Encouraged by HOD's Philosophy". He said he was impressed. :D Because of his work schedule, he isn't involved in the schooling too much. He is interested in what she is doing, but we need to initiate involvement. He is laid off this week, so he took time to build a balance scale for Angie to do her math. You have other activities to do if we don't have a scale, but I thought the scale would be a good tool for dd to learn this concept. It turned out great! It is making a nice toy for her. :) Hopefully as the year progresses, dh will become more involved. We do appreciate all your help on this board. :D
